John Staines, aged 22, found guilty on an indictment for a burglary in the dwelling house of John Martin in the parish of Debden on 2nd June 1783: stealing therefrom a silk gown (valued at 5/-), a white linen gown (valued at 5/-), 2 linen tablecloths (valued at 5/-), 2 damask breakfast cloths (valued at 3/-), 3 linen sheets (value at 15/-), 2 pairs of linen pillowcases (valued at 1/-), a black silk handkerchief (value at 1/-), 6 linen clouts (valued at 3/-) and 3 other linen clouts (valued at 18d).
